About the Boolermaker Kid's Run
The race takes place in FT Proctor Park, a flat open space in Utica that works well for younger runners. Courses range from a short dash up to a full mile, with heats grouped so kids of different ages are not all going at once. Costumes are welcome, and a lot of kids show up dressed for the occasion, though capes are off the table.
Check-in opens before the first heat, with warm-up activities to keep kids from standing around. The park is east of downtown Utica, so street parking nearby is generally workable. The morning is organized around the kids rather than the clock, with each group going when they are ready.
