About the Blueberry Hill 5K & Newberry Fun Run
The race runs through the streets of Montrose as part of the town's Blueberry Festival, held on the Village Green. The timed distance race and the untimed fun run share the same setting, with the festival carrying on around them all day. The surroundings are small-town and walkable, the kind of place where the course and the crowd are close to each other the whole way.
Blueberry pancakes are available at a breakfast tent after you finish, which is a reasonable reason to push a little harder. The festival also runs a pie-eating contest later in the afternoon if you have recovered by then. Proceeds support a local historical society and library.
