About the 2027 Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama Kids Marathon

This is a months-long endurance program for elementary-age kids, kindergarten through fifth grade, built around a final race-day mile at Spain Park High School. Children log their training miles in increments over several months leading up to race day, tracked by a parent and an honor-system log sheet. The event is timed, but there are no official winners.

The final mile takes place at the high school, and a parent or guardian needs to be present on race day. Registration is online only, and the price rises in steps as the event approaches. Late registrants have a separate cutoff, with pickup handled on race day rather than beforehand.
