About the Bigfoot Classic - San Antonio
The course runs through the grounds of a college campus in Live Oak, winding through what the organizers describe as Texas parks and woodland terrain. It leans scenic over punishing, with tree cover and natural surroundings doing most of the work. Several distance options make it accessible to a wide range of paces, and aid stations are posted along the route.
The atmosphere at the finish is loud by design. A DJ keeps music going throughout and announces runners by name as they cross. There is a costume contest for anyone willing to show up as a mythical creature, judged by the crowd. The race rally tent at the finish has snacks and drinks, and trophies go out to overall and age group winners at a live awards ceremony.
