The course runs out and back from a park shelter at Hawk Island, so you retrace the same path on the way home. The terrain is outdoors and the surroundings are parkland. Strollers and baby joggers are welcome, though the organizers ask that they line up toward the back at the start.

Packet pickup is available the evening before the race at the Big Brothers Big Sisters office, and again on race morning at the park before the start. Parking at Hawk Island Park is described as plentiful. There is also a kids costume run, with pumpkin painting at the finish for the youngest participants.
