About the Big Bear Turkey Trot
The route runs paved roads through pine trees in the Moonridge area, with a stretch along a creek trail and a pass through the local zoo. It is a short, flat course that moves through some genuinely interesting surroundings, and the costume culture here is real, not an afterthought.
The race starts and finishes at a donut shop on Moonridge Road, which sets the tone pretty well. Packet pickup runs several evenings beforehand at a shop on Pine Knot Boulevard, with race-morning pickup available at the start. Afterward, there is a party with live music, adult beverages, and pie.
