About the Betsie Bay Frozen 5K

The course runs along Betsie Bay in winter, and the organizers lean into that fact rather than apologize for it. Wind off Lake Michigan is part of the deal out here, and the route can be genuinely cold and blustery. The race benefits a local youth organization, and age-group awards go deep into the field.

Packet pickup happens the evening before at the American Legion in Frankfort, with a second window on race morning at the same spot. The start is a short bus ride away, with buses running from the Legion area. You can also get dropped off at the start near the Furnace Street Distillery parking lot. Bag drop is available at the Legion on race day.
