About the Berry Half/10K/5K

The races run entirely on the Berry College campus, which means no public roads and a lot of open, forested land with deer grazing nearby. The half marathon route passes a chapel, an old mill, and dairy barns before winding back on a named trail. Most of it is paved, with short stretches of packed dirt and gravel mid-course. The course is mostly flat with a handful of moderate climbs.

The half marathon and the shorter distance start together, so the early miles have some company before the routes split. The finish is at a cluster of historic buildings on the main campus, and college volunteers staff the course throughout.

Common Questions About the Berry Half/10K/5K

Will I finish last at the Berry Half/10K/5K?

Almost certainly not. Half the 13.1094 Miles field finished slower than 2:11:56, and the last recorded finisher came in around 3:55:17, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Berry Half/10K/5K a good first 13.1094 Miles?

A field of 537 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 13.1094 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Berry Half/10K/5K?

The 13.1094 Miles winner ran 1:13:58 while the median finisher took 2:11:56. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
