About the Beat Bama Run Fest 5K and 1 Mile

This is a color run on the Auburn University campus, so expect to finish considerably less white than you started. The route has a water stop along the way, and refreshments are out at the finish. The race benefits the Food Bank of East Alabama, and runners are welcome to bring non-perishable food donations to the event.

Bringing canned goods or other shelf-stable items is encouraged rather than required, but the organizers are specific about what the food bank needs most: proteins, canned fish and vegetables, dry pasta, breakfast items, juice, and basic personal care products. It is a good thing to look up before race morning.

Common Questions About the Beat Bama Run Fest 5K and 1 Mile

Will I finish last at the Beat Bama Run Fest 5K and 1 Mile?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 29:19, and the last recorded finisher came in around 56:31, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Beat Bama Run Fest 5K and 1 Mile a good first 3.1 Miles?

It is a small race (94 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Beat Bama Run Fest 5K and 1 Mile?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 17:22 while the median finisher took 29:19. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
