About the Be Grateful 5K

This is a Thanksgiving morning 5K put on by a local school network, with proceeds going toward scholarships for high school students. The course is chip-timed and pet- and stroller-friendly, which tends to draw a mix of people out on a holiday morning. The park has bathrooms on site.

Bib pickup opens before the start, so you do not need to come the day before. Light refreshments are set out after the race wraps up. Parking and the start area are near a park with restrooms already on site.

Common Questions About the Be Grateful 5K

Will I finish last at the Be Grateful 5K?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 34:14, and the last recorded finisher came in around 53:57, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Be Grateful 5K a good first 3.1 Miles?

It is a small race (89 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Be Grateful 5K?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 19:18 while the median finisher took 34:14. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
