About the BCSOK Pound The Pavement Pink 5k and 1 Mile Fun Run

The course runs along the Lake Stanley Draper Trail, so you are out near the water for the whole race. The terrain is paved and the route is straightforward, which makes it comfortable for anyone getting back into racing after time away. A DJ is set up near the event area, and the music carries across the start.

After the race, there is a food truck on site and vendor booths with samples and giveaways. A breast cancer awareness fair runs alongside everything else, so the post-race area has more going on than most finishes. It is a cause-driven event, and that shows in how the morning is organized.

Common Questions About the BCSOK Pound The Pavement Pink 5k and 1 Mile Fun Run

Will I finish last at the BCSOK Pound The Pavement Pink 5k and 1 Mile Fun Run?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 47:35, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:22:44, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the BCSOK Pound The Pavement Pink 5k and 1 Mile Fun Run a good first 3.1 Miles?

It is a small race (124 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the BCSOK Pound The Pavement Pink 5k and 1 Mile Fun Run?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 18:40 while the median finisher took 47:35. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
