About the Bauman's Charity Race

The course runs through Mott Park, a residential neighborhood that regulars in Flint seem to know well, looping around the park and golf course before finishing on a downhill stretch. The route overlaps pieces of two historic local courses, so if you have run the Crim, parts of this will feel familiar underfoot.

Packet pickup runs the day before and the morning of the race at Bauman's Running and Walking Shop, then moves to Kettering University on race day. Water, fresh fruit, and cookies are at the finish. Part of the proceeds go to a local vocational independence program.

Common Questions About the Bauman's Charity Race

Will I finish last at the Bauman's Charity Race?

Almost certainly not. Half the race field finished slower than 32:27, and the last recorded finisher came in around 55:22, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Bauman's Charity Race a good first race?

It is a small race (99 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first race, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Bauman's Charity Race?

The race winner ran 17:39 while the median finisher took 32:27. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
