About the Barn-B-Q Trail Festival
The trail here runs through the Deserted Village at Watchung Reservation, a patch of woods that feels genuinely removed from the suburbs surrounding it. Expect roots, rocks, stream crossings, and slippery stretches. Routes are self-guided, so you pick your distance and head out when you are ready, which makes the whole thing feel more like a day in the woods than a race.
The centerpiece is the party at Masker's Barn afterward. BBQ, beer, wine, and seltzers are all part of it. Between the trails and the barn there are lawn games, a puzzle race, a ringshoes tournament, and a trail treasure chase. Yoga runs early in the morning near the pergola if you want to ease into the day.
