About the Back to The 80s 5K & 10K

The course runs along Campion Trails in Irving, an out-and-back route on trail. The race leans hard into its theme, with runners showing up in neon, leg warmers, and assorted decade-appropriate gear, and a DJ spinning period hits at the start and finish area. A post-race party follows, so people tend to stick around after crossing the line.

Runners can pick up their packets on race morning before the start. The lot at the venue is free. A local run club leads a warm-up shortly before the gun, so getting there early gives you time to settle in before things get moving.

Common Questions About the Back to The 80s 5K & 10K

Will I finish last at the Back to The 80s 5K & 10K?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 37:57, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:10:27, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Back to The 80s 5K & 10K a good first 3.1 Miles?

It is a small race (63 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Back to The 80s 5K & 10K?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 20:00 while the median finisher took 37:57. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
