About the Back the Badge 5K
The course opens on dirt near the county fairgrounds, then moves onto a paved rail trail before winding into the soft, wide paths of the Cibolo Nature Center. The surface changes underfoot as you go, and the surrounding Hill Country scenery is the point. Dogs on leashes and strollers are welcome, which shapes the feel of the crowd.
Packet pickup and registration both happen race morning, so there is no need to make a separate trip the day before. Opening ceremonies kick things off before the run begins. The race supports local law enforcement agencies in the county, and that mission is fairly central to why people show up.
