About the Austin's Backyard Ultra • Marathon • Full • Half & Memorial Day Remembrance Run 4 Miler • 8 Miler
The courses run along a peninsula at Turkey Bend LCRA Recreation Area, tracing the Colorado River through wildflower-lined meadows and shaded Hill Country woodland. The terrain rolls throughout, with lakeside views opening up between wooded stretches. The Memorial Day distances all follow the same trail as the backyard ultra, so the course has already been run hard before the morning crowds arrive.
The backyard ultra runs through the night, with reflective markers on course and a central start and finish corral near the park's camping area serving as home base between loops. Crews stage there to resupply runners. The Remembrance Run begins at dawn with a moment of silence before the field heads out on the same trail.
