About the Annual STC Halloween Run

The trail course winds around two lakes inside Green Lakes State Park, so you are on natural terrain the whole way, with tree cover and water views. Volunteers are posted at trail junctions to keep everyone on track. Costumes are genuinely part of the race, with prizes for the best ones alongside awards for the fastest finishers.

A kids fun run and a trunk-or-treat in the parking lot round out the morning for families. Post-race, there are bagels, fruit, and candy at the finish. Parking at the park is free on race day, and registration is online only.

Common Questions About the Annual STC Halloween Run

Will I finish last at the Annual STC Halloween Run?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 29:02, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:13:52, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Annual STC Halloween Run a good first 5K?

It is a small race (156 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Annual STC Halloween Run?

The 5K winner ran 18:04 while the median finisher took 29:02. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
