About the Amerman Family Fun Run

This is a color run on school grounds, starting behind the building in the back parking lot. The route heads up the sidewalk toward the football field, then turns around and comes straight back. It is short and flat, the kind of course a stroller can handle without any trouble.

Packet pickup is offered the afternoon before at the school, or on the morning of the race itself. Parking is available at the school, in the surrounding neighborhood, or at a nearby school with a pedestrian bridge that connects over to the course side. Part of the back lot is closed off for the event, so arrive with some extra time.

Common Questions About the Amerman Family Fun Run

Will I finish last at the Amerman Family Fun Run?

Almost certainly not. Half the 1 Miles field finished slower than 9:37, and the last recorded finisher came in around 24:25, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Amerman Family Fun Run a good first 1 Miles?

It is a small race (78 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Amerman Family Fun Run?

The 1 Miles winner ran 6:16 while the median finisher took 9:37. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
