About the All-Out Beat the Heat

The course follows Big Dry Creek Trail out and back from a Church Ranch office park, heading southwest toward Standley Lake Regional Park. The surface is mostly concrete and pavement with some softer gravel sections near the lake, so it runs firm underfoot. The longer distance gets open views of the lake with the Front Range sitting behind it. The course is flat enough to run fast.

Early packet pickup runs the evening before the race at a location announced closer to the date. On race morning, pickup opens well before the first wave goes out. The starts are staggered by distance with tight windows, so arriving early matters. Professional photographers are out on the course and at the finish, and the post-race setup includes an awards ceremony that wraps up by mid-morning.

Finish-Time Stats

Going by the 2026 results, this is a small, friendly field, and the spread of finish times is wide, so this is a mostly recreational race rather than one for club runners.

Common Questions About the All-Out Beat the Heat

Will I finish last at the All-Out Beat the Heat?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 35:09, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:18:11, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the All-Out Beat the Heat a good first 5K?

It is a small race (125 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the All-Out Beat the Heat?

The 5K winner ran 18:14 while the median finisher took 35:09. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
