About the A.M.Y. Wellness Foundation YMCA of Mitchell County Turkey Trot 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run
This Turkey Trot runs through Spruce Pine with the YMCA of Mitchell County behind it. Costume-wearing is encouraged, and Thanksgiving attire is part of the scene, so turkeys and pilgrims tend to show up alongside the serious runners. The course takes you through the local community, and the atmosphere leans toward the celebratory side of a holiday morning.
Post-race refreshments and some kind of community gathering follow the finish. Awards go out for top finishers and for best costume, so there is a reason to commit to that pilgrim hat.
