About the 9/11 Memorial Mile
This is an untimed memorial walk held at a large outdoor shopping center, tracing a single mile on the property. The mood is reflective rather than competitive. A remembrance ceremony follows the walk, centered on a memorial wall that honors those lost and local first responders. Proceeds support a scholarship fund for local students pursuing careers in first response.
Packet pickup runs the evening before at the food court inside the shopping center, with a second window on the morning of the event. There is no day-of registration, so sign-up needs to happen in advance. A ceremony with a tour of the memorial wall follows shortly after the walk concludes.
