About the 5K Zombie Run & One Mile Spooky Family Fun Run

The course runs from historic Courthouse Square in downtown Morganton, and the zombie format changes how you think about racing. You carry flag strips on a Velcro belt, and zombies stationed along the route will try to pull them. Finishing fast matters, but so does finishing with flags intact, which means the front of the pack is not always the safest place to be.

The after-party brings it all back to Courthouse Square, where two food trucks set up and there is music, games, and drinks available. The shorter family-distance option is costume-friendly and open to walkers, so it draws a different crowd than the flag-and-zombie format up the road.
