About the $5 5K
The course runs mostly flat along the Greenway, with a stretch across the Walnut Street Bridge where the route narrows to a sidewalk. It is the kind of course that works for anyone on foot, whether moving fast or taking it easy, and the surroundings feel more like a morning out than a race production.
Packet pickup is available at RunAbout Sports in Roanoke in the days before the race, with a race-morning option at the start. After finishing, stick around for raffles from running and outdoor brands.

The $5 5K has been held every year since at least 2024. That is as far back as RunSignup's records for this race go, so it may well be older.
How we calculate these stats: RunSesh calculates these figures from the most recent published results of past editions, sourced from RunSignup. We show aggregates only: field size, winning and median times, and the cutoff. We never publish individual finisher tables. Last updated Jul 27, 2026.
