About the 22nd Race into the New Year 5k & 1/4 Mile Fun Dash
The course runs out and back along the boardwalk and then up the road toward Gordon's Pond at Cape Henlopen State Park. It is flat, on pavement, with the ocean nearby for most of the route. The turnaround is at the state park entrance, and the finish brings you back to the bandstand at the foot of Rehoboth Avenue.
Packet pickup the evening before is at the bandstand, where the race also starts and finishes. Race-morning pickup is available, but the organizers ask that you leave yourself extra time, especially if you are driving in. The kids' dash goes off just before the main race, with the gathered field cheering from the finish area.

The 22nd Race into the New Year 5k & 1/4 Mile Fun Dash has been held every year since at least 2020. That is as far back as RunSignup's records for this race go, so it may well be older.
How we calculate these stats: RunSesh calculates these figures from the most recent published results of past editions, sourced from RunSignup. We show aggregates only: field size, winning and median times, and the cutoff. We never publish individual finisher tables. Last updated Jul 27, 2026.
