About the Zoom Angel Island

Angel Island sits in the bay and you reach it by ferry from the Tiburon dock, which makes this race feel different before you even start. The island is hilly and largely forested, with trails that climb through grass and trees to high points with wide views of the water and surrounding hills. Most of the course runs on single-track trail.

Packet pickup is on race morning at the ferry dock, and the boat leaves on a fixed schedule, so arriving early matters. Parking is available in Tiburon, including a free lot a short walk away. After the race, Ayala Cove is right there if you want to stay and eat. No dogs are permitted on the island.

Finish-Time Stats

Going by the 2026 results, this is a small, friendly field, and the spread of finish times is wide, so this is a mostly recreational race rather than one for club runners.

Common Questions About the Zoom Angel Island

Will I finish last at the Zoom Angel Island?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5 Miles field finished slower than 1:05:25, and the last recorded finisher came in around 2:08:15, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Zoom Angel Island a good first 5 Miles?

It is a small race (75 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Zoom Angel Island?

The 5 Miles winner ran 34:00 while the median finisher took 1:05:25. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
