About the Yough Band on the Run 5k
The course runs out and back along the Great Allegheny Passage Trail, starting from the West Newton Trailhead. The surface is flat the whole way, which makes for a straightforward effort where you can focus on pace rather than footing. The trail follows the Youghiogheny River, so the scenery is river and treeline in both directions.
Parking is available right at the start and finish, with overflow options across West Main Street at West Newton Station and additional municipal lots across the river on the east side. With several nearby options, getting in and out is not much of a puzzle.
