About the XIT Empty Saddle Race
The course starts at a pavilion near the baseball fields and runs through Dalhart during the town's historic rodeo weekend. The surroundings are flat and open, and the route is short enough that the whole field tends to stay loosely together. Proceeds go to a local healthcare foundation, which gives the morning a clear local purpose.
Packet pickup the evening before is at a community center on Denrock Ave, with a second window available race morning at the pavilion itself. The rodeo weekend means there is plenty going on after you finish, including a parade, free barbecue, and a concert in town.
