About the Witching Hour 5k/8k

The course runs through farm roads and into a working vineyard, so the scenery shifts noticeably as you go. The surface is mostly paved, with a section of firm unpaved path once you reach the winery grounds. Awards go to the top finishers overall and across a range of age groups.

A food truck is on site after the race, and wine is available for runners. Live music keeps the post-race area going while results come in and awards are handed out.

Common Questions About the Witching Hour 5k/8k

Will I finish last at the Witching Hour 5k/8k?

Almost certainly not. Half the race field finished slower than 31:50, and the last recorded finisher came in around 49:50, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Witching Hour 5k/8k a good first race?

It is a small race (29 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first race, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Witching Hour 5k/8k?

The race winner ran 22:16 while the median finisher took 31:50. That spread points to a relatively quick field, so expect a competitive front end.
