About the Wild West Catamount 5K
The course runs through a university campus, starting near a central fountain. It has a fall feel to it, and the route takes you past campus scenery rather than roads or trail. Best-dressed cowboy and cowgirl prizes give the morning a costume element, and plenty of runners show up in bandanas and boots alongside the usual racing gear.
Proceeds support a student-run physical therapy clinic that offers free care to people in the surrounding community, so the race has a concrete purpose behind it. The start area near the fountain is easy to find once you are on campus.
