The route traces the Lehigh River downstream on the D&L Trail, a packed surface with a consistent and gentle downhill grade from start to finish. Both distances begin upstream and converge at the Outdoor Center in Lehighton. The footing is firm and even, closer to a groomed gravel path than technical singletrack, which is what makes the course so conducive to fast times.
