About the Where the Wild Things Run
The course runs through the campus of Nova Southeastern University, a spread of paths and open grounds that gives the route a park-like feel without leaving an urban setting. It is mostly flat, and the South Florida surroundings, palms and warm air even in the fall, make for a pleasant morning out. The race benefits a local wildlife rehabilitation center, and that shapes the whole event.
After finishing, runners can meet the center's animal ambassadors in person, the birds, mammals, and reptiles the organization cares for. It is an unusual thing to find at a finish line, and worth sticking around for.
