About the Westerville Donut Run and Walk

The course runs entirely on paved trails and sidewalks through Alum Creek Park North, crossing a bridge near the start and finish. The park entrance road is closed for the race, so there is no traffic to contend with. Distance options range from a short kids dash up to a longer run, with everyone starting and finishing at the same line. Donuts are waiting at the finish.

The park entrance is closed on race morning, so parking is across the road at the old Westerville Senior Center. Street parking near Otterbein University is also an option, though it is worth checking signs before leaving your car. Early packet pickup runs the evening before at a running store in Worthington, with race-morning pickup available at the park before the start.

Common Questions About the Westerville Donut Run and Walk

Will I finish last at the Westerville Donut Run and Walk?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 38:58, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:20:51, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Westerville Donut Run and Walk a good first 5K?

A field of 208 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Westerville Donut Run and Walk?

The 5K winner ran 22:27 while the median finisher took 38:58. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
