About the West Georgia Linked Up to Run 5K

This is a charity race organized by a local chapter of a national civic organization, with proceeds going toward their scholarship and community programs. There is a kids' fun run alongside the main race, so the start area draws a broad crowd, families included. Results post immediately after finishing.

The race qualifies for the Peachtree Road Race, which matters if you are chasing that entry. Vendor and sponsor tables are part of the setup, so the post-race area has some activity around it beyond just the finish line.

Common Questions About the West Georgia Linked Up to Run 5K

Will I finish last at the West Georgia Linked Up to Run 5K?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 55:38, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:16:43, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the West Georgia Linked Up to Run 5K a good first 5K?

It is a small race (65 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the West Georgia Linked Up to Run 5K?

The 5K winner ran 23:26 while the median finisher took 55:38. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
