About the We Love Teachers 5K - DC/Maryland
The race runs through Wheaton Regional Park, which gives it a park setting well suited to a morning on foot. The course is chip-timed and draws school teams, individual runners, and supporters of educators. Runners have the option to honor a specific teacher during registration, and that teacher receives a digital certificate of appreciation.
Packet pickup and registration open early on race morning, and the start follows an opening ceremony and group warm-up. A celebration with music and food follows the finish, and an awards ceremony covers overall and age-group categories, plus special recognition for school teams and parent-child pairs.
