About the We Can Be Heroes 5K
The course runs at Orange County Airport, which gives it a wide-open, unobstructed feel underfoot. The terrain is flat and the route is set up for anyone chasing a fast time. Costumes are genuinely part of the culture here, with participants dressing as superheroes or personal heroes, and prizes go to those who show up in character.
Packet pickup happens the morning of the race, before the start, with light refreshments available. The event benefits Fearless! Hudson Valley, a local nonprofit serving survivors of abuse and violence in the area.

The We Can Be Heroes 5K has been held every year since at least 2021. That is as far back as RunSignup's records for this race go, so it may well be older.
How we calculate these stats: RunSesh calculates these figures from the most recent published results of past editions, sourced from RunSignup. We show aggregates only: field size, winning and median times, and the cutoff. We never publish individual finisher tables. Last updated Jul 27, 2026.
