About the Waynesboro Family YMCA Turkey Trot

This is a Thanksgiving morning race held at the Waynesboro Family YMCA, so the start and finish are both right there at the Y. The course has no water stop along the way, but Tropical Smoothie samples are waiting at the finish line. Strollers and dogs are welcome, with a request to line up toward the back for safety.

Packet pickup happens the two evenings before the race at the YMCA, and there is no race-morning pickup or registration. Plan ahead, because registration closes the evening before Thanksgiving. The race is dedicated to the memory of Dick Meador.

Common Questions About the Waynesboro Family YMCA Turkey Trot

Will I finish last at the Waynesboro Family YMCA Turkey Trot?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 34:20, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:14:35, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Waynesboro Family YMCA Turkey Trot a good first 3.1 Miles?

A field of 556 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Waynesboro Family YMCA Turkey Trot?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 15:08 while the median finisher took 34:20. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
