About the Watermelon Days 5K Run/Walk
The course starts where Main Street meets Water Street in downtown Fayette, heads out on a paved trail toward a golf course, then turns back through town to finish on Main Street. It is a road race with a clear out-and-back shape, all paved underfoot, and the finish drops you right back in the middle of the day's broader street festivities.
After the race, a nearby church serves Belgian waffles, and the finish area has awards and raffle prizes. The event raises money for the local ambulance service.
