About the Wabash Run The River

The course runs along the Wabash River Trail, following the river corridor on paved road and path. It is a point-to-point style route with turnaround flags built in, so you are retracing part of the same scenic stretch. The terrain is flat and the surroundings are open water and riverbank for most of the run.

The start and finish are at Friendship Hill Inclusive Playground. Packet pickup happens the evening before at the same location, during a street festival in town, with race-morning pickup available as well. Several parking lots nearby are marked with event signs, so finding a spot is straightforward.

Common Questions About the Wabash Run The River

Will I finish last at the Wabash Run The River?

Almost certainly not. Half the 13.1 Miles field finished slower than 2:12:18, and the last recorded finisher came in around 3:13:41, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Wabash Run The River a good first 13.1 Miles?

It is a small race (106 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 13.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Wabash Run The River?

The 13.1 Miles winner ran 1:11:02 while the median finisher took 2:12:18. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
