About the VIRR Turkey Trot
The course runs out from Keokea Park into the upcountry hillside, turns around at Thompson Road, and comes straight back. It is an out-and-back, so the scenery stays consistent and you always know where you stand. Costumes are part of the tradition here, with prizes going to the silliest outfits rather than just the fastest runners.
The race gathers at Keokea Park, which is also where you finish. Runners bring non-perishable food or monetary donations for the Maui Food Bank at the start. It is a Thanksgiving morning race, so the whole thing wraps up early enough to leave plenty of time for the rest of the day.
