About the VICTORY RACES - Marathon, Half, and 5K

The course runs on paved roads through a former military munitions compound that was once classified and supplied explosives during World War II. Old outposts, manufacturing buildings, and storage facilities still stand along the route, and the park has been only partly repurposed, so the industrial ruins are very much present. It is a genuinely unusual place to run a road race.

Packet pickup and race-day registration happen on site the morning of the race, before the start. Runners enter through the south gate and follow volunteers toward the main building, which also serves as the start and finish area. Parking is there as well.

Common Questions About the VICTORY RACES - Marathon, Half, and 5K

Will I finish last at the VICTORY RACES - Marathon, Half, and 5K?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.106 Miles field finished slower than 40:44, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:45:28, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the VICTORY RACES - Marathon, Half, and 5K a good first 3.106 Miles?

It is a small race (137 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.106 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the VICTORY RACES - Marathon, Half, and 5K?

The 3.106 Miles winner ran 17:17 while the median finisher took 40:44. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
