About the Veterans Tribute Run

The course runs a loop with a brief out-and-back section added, starting and finishing at a local church. It benefits the George E. Wahlen Veterans Home, and that purpose is felt throughout the morning. The terrain is forgiving underfoot and the route is approachable for most paces.

Light refreshments and age group awards follow the race at the finish. The connection to the veterans home gives the post-race gathering a bit more weight than most mornings like this.

Common Questions About the Veterans Tribute Run

Will I finish last at the Veterans Tribute Run?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 33:58, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:06:03, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Veterans Tribute Run a good first 5K?

It is a small race (68 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Veterans Tribute Run?

The 5K winner ran 20:51 while the median finisher took 33:58. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
