About the FCCC VETERANS AWARENESS 5K RUN/WALK
The course runs through Cowpens National Battlefield, a historic site with open fields and quiet grounds. The terrain is gentle, and the surroundings give the morning a weight that most local road races do not have. The event exists to raise awareness around veteran suicide prevention, and that purpose is present in the atmosphere from the start.
Overall and age group awards are part of the morning. The battlefield setting means parking and staging happen on site, with history literally underfoot before the gun goes off.
