About the Van Duzer Wine Run 5k

The course winds through the grounds of a working vineyard, taking runners past vines and the kinds of uneven terrain and gentle climbs you expect from a cross-country style route. Footing is not always smooth, so trail shoes are worth considering. The surroundings do most of the work: it is a genuinely pretty stretch of agricultural land.

Packet pickup happens on race morning, opening about an hour before the first wave goes out. There are two start times to choose from when you register. After finishing, there is a pour of wine at the end, which fits the setting well.

Common Questions About the Van Duzer Wine Run 5k

Will I finish last at the Van Duzer Wine Run 5k?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 49:43, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:23:31, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Van Duzer Wine Run 5k a good first 5K?

A field of 200 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Van Duzer Wine Run 5k?

The 5K winner ran 26:10 while the median finisher took 49:43. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
