About the VALPARAISO YMCA // RINGING IN SPRING 5K
The course starts just outside the Valparaiso Family YMCA and winds through the north end of the city before looping back to the start. The route passes through residential neighborhoods, and daffodils planted along the way mark the season. Volunteers are stationed throughout to keep everyone on track. Dogs are not permitted on the course, but strollers are welcome at the back of the corral.
Packet pickup runs over the two evenings before the race at a local fitness studio on Calumet Avenue. If you miss those windows, the YMCA gym opens early on race morning as a backup. The race benefits the YMCA's annual campaign, which funds scholarships for programs and childcare, so the entry fee goes directly to the community.

Finish-Time Stats
Going by the 2026 results, this is a decent-sized field, and the spread of finish times is wide, so this is a mostly recreational race rather than one for club runners.

The VALPARAISO YMCA // RINGING IN SPRING 5K has been held every year since at least 2015. That is as far back as RunSignup's records for this race go, so it may well be older.
How we calculate these stats: RunSesh calculates these figures from the most recent published results of past editions, sourced from RunSignup. We show aggregates only: field size, winning and median times, and the cutoff. We never publish individual finisher tables. Last updated Sep 10, 2026.
