About the Valley Chemical Fire Company Stop, Drop & Run 5k
The race starts and finishes at the fire company, so the building and the trucks are part of the backdrop all morning. It runs on Halloween, and costumes are encouraged but not required, so the start line tends to look like a neighborhood party that happens to have a timing clock. The surrounding valley gives the course a scenic quality, with fall foliage typical of that time of year.
Volunteers are out on the course with water and support. The fire company itself serves as the anchor for the whole event, which means the post-race scene stays right there at the station.
