About the Valentine's Heartbreaker Marathon & Relay

Country Park is a loop course around a lake, and it earns its name. The terrain rolls throughout, with shade covering most of the route. Because the format sends runners around the same loop repeatedly, you pass the start area often, which means your relay teammates or family can track exactly where you are and cheer at predictable spots.

Packet pickup is the day before at Fleet Feet on Lawndale Drive. Out-of-town teams can pick up race morning instead, at the pavilion near the carousel inside the park. Parking is at Jaycee Park, a short walk from the course. Teams set up tents in the park, and gear check near the pavilion covers solo runners who have no teammates to hold their things.

Common Questions About the Valentine's Heartbreaker Marathon & Relay

Will I finish last at the Valentine's Heartbreaker Marathon & Relay?

Almost certainly not. Half the 26.2 Miles field finished slower than 4:08:09, and the last recorded finisher came in around 5:29:30, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Valentine's Heartbreaker Marathon & Relay a good first 26.2 Miles?

It is a small race (42 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 26.2 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Valentine's Heartbreaker Marathon & Relay?

The 26.2 Miles winner ran 3:07:12 while the median finisher took 4:08:09. That spread points to a relatively quick field, so expect a competitive front end.
