The course starts and finishes inside a baseball stadium, which gives the race a unusual frame. From there it heads out through downtown Wilson, passing the Vollis Simpson Whirligig Park, where the giant wind-powered metal sculptures are hard to miss. The route moves through the historic downtown streets before looping back to the ballpark. Costumes are welcome and common.
