About the Tyler Brown's "I Hate to Run" Memorial 5K
This race honors a student who died in a car crash during his senior year, remembered by his school as someone who led through service and friendship rather than status. The course runs from a stadium, with a kids fun run on the track before the main event gets going. The morning has a memorial weight to it, not just another road race.
Registration and bib pickup happen at the stadium on race morning, and parking is right there as well. A pre-race Mass takes place in the stadium suite before the start, which tells you something about the crowd. A shop selling items in Tyler's name raises money for a scholarship fund set up in his honor.

The Tyler Brown's "I Hate to Run" Memorial 5K has been held every year since at least 2024. That is as far back as RunSignup's records for this race go, so it may well be older.
