About the Turtle Derby 5k Trail Race

The course winds through the trails at Hopkins Farm Brewery, a working farm brewery outside of town. The terrain meanders rather than charges anywhere, so expect a winding path through the property rather than a point-to-point road race. Turtle costumes are genuinely encouraged, and the costume prizes suggest a good chunk of the field takes that seriously.

Packet pickup runs the evening before at the Susquehannock Wildlife Conservation Center, with a race-morning option at the brewery itself. After the race, the brewery hosts a party with live music and beer available for purchase. The whole event benefits local turtle and wildlife conservation, which gives it a specific purpose beyond the running.
