The course runs through Red Hills Recreation Area, a trail network in the Sierra Foothills. It is technical and challenging ground, and winter conditions make it more so: expect water crossings and mud along the way. There are a couple of distance options, both built around the same rugged terrain, and a single aid station out on the course staffed by the same crew either way.
